Congratulations on your new puppy or kitten!

Get your puppy started off right with full consultations at one of our four locations

Whether this is your first pet or another new addition to the family, puppies and kittens require a variety of things to get them started off right. We want to make sure that puppy and kitten owners have the opportunity to get all of their questions answered and gain as much information as possible about the health care of their new pet. There is much more to a new pet visit than just vaccines, and that’s why a doctor will examine your pet and consult with you at each visit.

Our veterinarians and staff will coach you through each step of the process from socialization and potty training to obedience and proper diet (and everything in between!). It is also extremely important to get your new pet started on heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention as well as flea and tick prevention as soon as possible. Our veterinarians can recommend a product that is safe for puppies and kittens as young as 6 weeks of age.

We will also discuss the medical benefits of having your pet spayed or neutered at 5-6 months of age. For females, this is the time before their first heat cycle; it is an urban legend that females should be allowed to go into heat prior to being spayed. In fact, the risk of a female developing mammary adenocarcinoma (breast cancer) later in life goes up exponentially with each heat cycle that she has. In male dogs, neutering will eliminate the risk of testicular cancer, lower the risk of prostate enlargement, and help decrease undesirable behaviors such as marking and wandering. If you do not plan on showing/breeding your pet, it is in their best medical interest to be spayed or neutered.

We are pleased to offer wellness packages for your new puppy or kitten including their initial exams, vaccines, parasite testing and control, and spay or neuter. The puppy and kitten plans provide significant savings for you and quality health care for your new addition!
